I don’t know how I’ve made it this long without posting this, given that homemade guacamole is a snacking staple in my house, but better late than never! This is so easy, so quick, and so delicious that I dare say there is never a wrong time for this guacamole. Click on through to follow along!


Start by peeling, pitting and mashing ripe avocados. The number and size you use will differ, depending on how much guacamole you actually want to make. Today, we used 3 medium sized avocados, which will feed 4 of us as a pre-supper snack. I don’t like my avocado too smooth, so I’ll usually mash it up with a fork and leave some lumps for delicious texture.


Next, dice all the fixings, as we call them. These are your optional ingredients that give the guacamole even more flavour. We prefer tomatoes and onion in ours. You can also add cilantro, to taste, but given that I was not blessed with the gene that changes the cilantro flavour from soap to delicious, I omit this. Dice the tomatoes and mince the onions – the tomatoes are great as a larger bite, but the onion is less harsh when it’s minced and evenly distributed. The amount is completely up to you.

TIP: If you’re going to be serving this right away, we suggest swapping the minced onion with granulated onion. Letting the guacamole sit will allow the onion flavour to develop, but if you don’t have that time, granulated onion will give you that flavour immediately.


Combine the onion with the avocado mix. Add salt, black pepper, chili flakes, garlic powder, and lemon or lime juice to taste. Fold in the tomatoes last. Let sit for 15 – 20 minutes for flavour development (make sure to leave lemon or lime juice on the surface OR cover the surface in plastic wrap to prevent oxidation), or serve immediately. ENJOY!

  • Onion, minced or granulated
  • Tomato, diced
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Lemon or lime juice
  • Garlic powder
  • Chili flakes
  1. Peel, pit, and roughly mash avocado.
  2. Mince onion and tomatoes.
  3. Thoroughly mix onion into the avocado.
  4. Add salt, black pepper, lemon / lime juice, garlic powder, and chili flakes to taste.
  5. Fold in diced tomatoes.
