Homemade Hot Chocolate

OKAY I KNOW IT’S SUMMER, BUT BEAR WITH ME. I enjoy hot beverages all year round, I love chocolate, and my air conditioning is absolutely cranking out the chilliest air (it’s 38°C with the humidex, what even is that?). But for me, hot chocolate mix is usually too sweet, plus it’s full of a whole bunch of stuff I just don’t need to be consuming when I could be making it myself. The only equipment you’re going to need is a microwave – TRUST. Click through to follow along! Continue reading “Homemade Hot Chocolate”

Chocolate Chip Cookies – REVIEW

34042255832_30d566233d_h

Sooooooo unless you’ve got more background and/or time than I do, you’re probably with me when I say that baking tends to be one of those things that I defer to the experts for. Baking is different from cooking in that there are mistakes that you just can’t fix, because by the time you know what went wrong, it’s already too late. So when I wanted soft, cafe-style cookies, I took to Pinterest to find the best dang chocolate chip cookie recipe I could find.

Black Bean Brownies

I’ve had a serious, serious desire for brownies lately. After making a batch on the weekend, my sweet tooth kicked in and I just needed them. Of course, I figured there had to be a way to make them a little healthier for me… Enter the mighty, but humble, black bean. The brownies are chocolatey and have that dense, fudgey texture that I’m obsessed with in brownies, but there’s no remorse when you eat five of them. This is probably one of the easiest recipes I have ever posted, so click on through to follow along.

Salted Caramel Chocolate Blondies – REVIEW

So Valentines Day is fast approaching, and what could be better for your sweetheart than something sweet? My sister and I recently came across this recipe from Chatelaine Magazine – Donna Hay’s salted caramel chocolate brownie. It’s not so much a brownie as a blondie – hence the rename – but MAN is it easy. We almost always bake with fruit (pie is our jam, ZING, FRUIT JOKE) but this one caught our eye. And it’s super easy to throw together! Click through to follow making this recipe, and our thoughts! Continue reading “Salted Caramel Chocolate Blondies – REVIEW”

Chocolate Almond Date Truffles

So these started as a try at those fancy “energy balls” I’ve been seeing all over Pinterest. They are these naturally sweetened, nutritious balls of goodness that are supposed to be a nice filling snack, or even a pre-workout supplement, meant to give you a little kick of energy. But these…these are something more…decadent. Luxurious. Luscious, even. If you like eating chocolate, but not the stomach ache from overdoing it, click on through to the recipe!

Because no one wants to eat anything that isn’t delicious. Enter steel cut oats… Click through to join me on this delicious adventure.

Chocolate Chia Pudding

love chia seeds. They are so versatile and yummy and kick-you-in-the-pants healthy. I always make some kind of pudding or use them to thicken smoothies, my sister uses them to make drinks, a friend of mine uses them to replace eggs in certain recipes…VERSATILE. And today, we are making chia pudding. But not just any chia pudding. This chia pudding is creamy, chocolatey, sweet, and just SO good. And it’s good for you, too.
